COMMERCIAL PRAGMATISM
How do mosques
financially survive?
Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department
(MoU)
signed a contract with DPG (Dubai Properties Group) on all deals related
with mosque development and maintenance. This is to support brotherhood as well
as the Dubai communities.
Some mosques earn money through donations from the visitors,
which is not mandatory. They believe that the people who believe in God should
give donations willingly. However, in Saudi Arabia, the government subsidizes
the mosques and does not take donations from the public.
Mosques are usually funded by the government, state or charitable
organizations.
Every Muslims must give up 2.5% of their incomes or annual
savings to charity every year (assuming that this percentage will not affect
the giver financially.
